Recently, the unveiling ceremony of the Carbon Neutrality Cooperation Center between Guangxi University (GXU) of China and St. Petersburg State University (SPbU) of Russia was held at Guangxi University. Distinguished attendees of the unveiling ceremony included the SPbU academician Detlef Bahnemann and director Anja Huelsewig, as well as Wang Chuanyi, academician of the European Academy of Sciences and academic dean of the School of Carbon Neutrality Science and Engineering at Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, Li Zhipeng, director of the Dual Carbon Science and New Energy Technology Center at Northwestern Polytechnical University, Huang Minfeng, general manager and senior engineer of the Southern Manganese Industry Technology Center, and Xiao Jianzhuang, a member of standing committee of the CPC GXU Committee and vice president of GXU.
Vice President Xiao Jianzhuang emphasized that the establishment of the Carbon Neutrality Cooperation Center between Guangxi University (GXU) of China and St. Petersburg State University (SPbU) of Russia represents a key milestone of deepening cooperation and common development between the two universities, while also contributing to global efforts to combat climate change through green, low-carbon initiatives. The establishment of this cooperation center is a new achievement of international exchange at Guangxi University, and an important platform for promoting scientific research innovation, talent cultivation, and international cooperation. Vice President Xiao noted that the GXU Dual Carbon Science and Technology Research Institute has achieved significant results in low-carbon design, green construction, green chemical engineering, blue energy and other fields of large-span arch bridges, demonstrating its scientific research strength in the field of carbon neutrality. He hoped that the cooperation center could provide scientific support for global carbon reduction and sustainable development, and assist in the construction of first-class disciplines of GXU.
Detlef Bahnemann introduced the profound history and cultural heritage of St. Petersburg State University, and showcased the research achievements of its team in the field of carbon neutrality. He stated that this collaboration has built a bridge for cooperation between the two universities, and he looks forward to exploring diverse innovation paths together in the future to achieve the common goals of addressing global climate change and promoting green and low-carbon development.
