On September 25th, Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Horn led a delegation to Guangxi University and gave a lecture to teachers and students, titled “Enhancing Friendship and Cooperation: The Role of People-to-People Exchanges in China-ASEAN Relations”. Han Linhai, Deputy Secretary of the CPC GXU Committee and President of GXU, and Xiao Jianzhuang, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC GXU Committee as well as Vice President of GXU met the guests. Vice President Xiao also chaired the lecture.
During the meeting, President Han Linhai expressed his welcome to the second of H.E. Kao Kim Horn and his delegation to GXU, and introduced the education cooperation between Guangxi University and ASEAN countries in recent years. Both sides exchanged views on the future cooperation and development of education between China and ASEAN.
In his lecture, Dr. Kao Kim Horn explained in simple terms that the exchanges between China and ASEAN countries are not only government to government exchanges and economic and trade exchanges, but more importantly, communication and exchanges between people. He emphasized that this year is the China-ASEAN Cultural Exchange Year, and both sides need to continue to pay attention to exchanges and cooperation in various aspects such as education and digital exchange. At the same time, he once again proposed his "7P" concept for strengthening exchanges between China and ASEAN, which aims to broaden the breadth of people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two sides from seven aspects: Purpose, People, Process, Product, Promotion, Place, Performance.
H.E. Kao Kim Horn and his delegation also had discussions and exchanges with experts and scholars from China-ASEAN Research Institute/Guangxi Innovation and Development Research Institute, as well as relevant leaders from the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, School of Economics and School of Law, and conducted in-depth discussions on strengthening cooperation in the fields such as people-to-people exchanges and scientific and technological research between China and ASEAN countries.
The event was also attended by representatives from International Cooperation and Exchange Department, School of China-ASEAN Economics, and School of China-ASEAN Financial Cooperation.
